Sept 18, Colombo: The Sri Lanka Administrative Services Association has called-off the planned island wide trade union action after the authorities have taken measures to address their demands regarding the salaries.
President of the Sri Lanka Administrative Services Association, Prabath Chandrakeerthi speaking to state media has said that the Cabinet Sub-Committee appointed to provide solutions to their grievances has approved the demands they put forward and its report was tabled at the Cabinet of Ministers meeting last evening.
He noted that the demands tabled before the Cabinet of Ministers have been directed to the Ministry of Finance. The Minister of Finance had asked for a week to review the cabinet subcommittee report and their demands will be once again tabled, at the next Cabinet Meeting, he said.
The Secretary of the Association Rohana de Silva said the Executive Committee unanimously decided to launch an indefinite strike from next Monday if the Finance Ministry fails to submit the relevant review to the Cabinet Office by Friday.
