Sept 13, Colombo: The United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) has re-appointed former Parliamentarian Shantha Bandara to the National List.
General Secretary of UPFA Mahinda Amaraweera said that action has been taken to appoint former Parliamentarian Shantha Bandara for the vacancy created in the National List. Letters in this respect were forwarded to the Elections Commissioner yesterday.
The seat was left vacant after Bandara resigned last month as UPFA National List MP in order to fill the seat left vacant by the death of Kurunegala district MP Salinda Dissanayake.
However, the Election Commission gazetted the name of UPFA member H. M. D. B. Herath to fill the vacant seat.
Meanwhile former Southern Provincial Council member Manoj Sirisena is nominated to fill the vacancy created due to the death of parliamentarian Chandrasiri Gajadeera.
He may take oaths in Parliament next week, Amaraweera said.
