Sept 13, Colombo: Accepting applications of postal votes for Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha election will end at midnight Friday.
All public officers and employees, principals, teachers, employees of the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB), members of the Armed Forces, Police and Civil Defense Force stationed in various parts of the country, employees of the Railway Department who are registered as voters in the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha area or are to be engaged in election duties are eligible for postal voting.
The elections for the Pradeshiya Sabhas will be held on the 11th of October.
Elections is held following an order by the Supreme Court to hold the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha elections which were postponed due to the rejection of nominations of the Democratic United National Front.
Election for Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha was not held when the Local Government elections were held on 10 February 2018 due to a court order.
According to the 2018 voter list, 53,384 people are eligible to cast their ballots at the election.
