Sept 12, Colombo: Prison authorities today arrested six persons who attempted to provide two mobile phones and chargers to drug kingpin Mohamed Imran alias Kanjipani Imran, who is jailed at the Boossa Prison.

Kanjipani Imran's father, brother and four friends were among those arrested. The cell phones and chargers were concealed inside a food dish.

The Prison authorities had given the opportunity today for anyone to visit the inmates at the high-security prison. Accordingly the group has come to visit the prisoner with a food container.

However, the authorities inspected the food container before handing it to the inmate and found two cell phones and chargers ingeniously hidden in the plastic container.

The suspects have been handed over to Rathgama Police for judicial process.
