Tue, Sep 10, 2019, 08:13 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Sept 10, Colombo: A Sri Lankan court today ordered to remand Deputy Minister of Social Empowerment Palitha Thewarapperuma and four others until September 16 after they surrendered to the police.

The Deputy Minister and others are charged with burying a dead body in a private land in violation of court orders.

Thewarapperuma and others have been accused of burying the body at Troit Estate of the Thebuwana Police Division on August 19, despite a court order banning it.

The court had issued the order after the owner of the land lodged a complaint with the Tebuwana Police requesting that the body not be buried in the land.

Matugama Magistrate N.H.H Halpadeniya ordered to remand the suspects after they surrendered to the police today.
