Oct 20, Colombo: Former Chief Minister of the Western Province and Sri Lanka Freedom party (SLFP) organizer Isura Devapriya says he has no regrets about the loss of posts as he has not done anything wrong.
Devapriya said he was unaware of the reasons why SLFP General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekara had taken steps to remove him from his SLFP Central Committee membership and the post of party organizer for Maharagama.
He also said that he did not see anything wrong with attending a rally held to secure the victory of the SLFP-backed candidate Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
The former Chief Minister said that he was well received by the people of Homagama at that meeting and unlike the others he was not hooted.
Devapriya said that he had never represented the UNP and that he does not need posts to work on behalf of the party.
Mr. Devapriya said that there were two opinions in the party regarding the party's support for Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and that he had always supported Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
The former chief minister said that he had not done anything wrong to the SLFP by attending the meeting held in Homagama in support of Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
SLFP General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekara has earlier said that the SLFP will not join the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) rallies due to the harassment faced by SLFP members during the SLPP campaign rallies.
