* Two PS members and nine others arrested over election violence

Oct 18, Colombo: Eleven suspects including three local government representatives have been arrested in connection with election related complaints and election related violations since presidential election was announced, police spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said.

Among the arrested are two Pradeshiya Sabha members and a former PS member, the spokesman said.

He said 10 complaints of election violence have been lodged with police from various parts of the country and 14 election violations have been reported.

The deputy chairman of the Walallawita Pradeshiya Sabha, a member of the Panduwasnuwara Pradeshiya Sabha and a former chairman of the Pelmadulla Pradeshiya Sabha are the three Pradeshiya Sabha members arrested for election violence.
