* CWC says not yet decided on which presidential candidate to support
Wed, Oct 9, 2019, 09:25 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Oct 09, Colombo: The upcountry Tamil party, Ceylon Workers Congress (CWC), led by Arumugam Thondaman has not yet made a decision as to which candidate the party would support in the Presidential election, the Senior Vice President and Treasurer of the CWC, M. Rameshwaran said.

Mr. Rameshwaran said that the statement made by the General Secretary of the United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Mahinda Amaraweera at a media briefing today (9th) that CWC will support the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna candidate Gotabhaya Rajapaksa is baseless.

He also pointed out that the statement made by a UNP parliamentarian that CWC fully supports the Democratic National Front presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa is also baseless.

Mr. Rameshwaran said following further discussions with the two candidates, the executive committee will meet to take a final decision and announce the party's stand on the 13th.
