Nov 19, Colombo: Deputy Treasury Secretary SR Attygalle has been appointed as the new Secretary to the Ministry of Finance and the Treasury Secretary.

Mr. Attygalle is a senior economist and has previously served as a Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.

Mr. Attygalle served in the Economic Research Department of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka in different capacities until he was released to the Ministry of Finance in 2003. In the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Attygalle held many positions including Director General in both the Departments of Fiscal Policy and Public Enterprises. This exposure helped Mr. Attygalle to gain his expertise knowledge and experience in both fiscal and monetary policy.

Mr. Attygalle holds a Masters of Science degree in Quantitative Development Economics from the Warwick University, UK and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Science from the University of Colombo.
