* Discussion with PM on postal strike today

July 22, Colombo: A special discussion will be held with the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe this afternoon regarding the postal strike, Minister of Postal Services & Muslim Religious Affairs M H A Haleem said.

Minister Haleem said that they would discuss about the postal workers' salary issues.

The Minister said that their problems were also discussed at the last Cabinet meeting.

Postal workers have called in sick and launched a strike since midnight yesterday based on several demands including the resolving of salary issues.

Convener of the Joint Postal Trade Unions Alliance Chinthaka Bandara said the one-day sick note campaign will be launched due to non-implementation of the agreements reached regarding the recruitment procedure of postal employees.
