* CID grills former Defense Secretary Hemasiri Fernando for nine hours

July 16, Colombo: The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has recorded a nine-hour long statement from former Defense Secretary Hemasiri Fernando yesterday (July 15), over the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks, police said.

The statement had been recorded from 10 am until 7 pm, Police Media Spokesman, SP Ruwan Gunasekara said.

Fernando who was arrested along with Police Chief Pujith Jayasundara over the failure to prevent the terrorist attacks was released on a surety bail of Rs 500,000 last week.
