* Fuel prices reduced from midnight today, no change in auto diesel price

July 10, Colombo: The Ministry of Finance, following the monthly fuel prices revision held today announced that fuel prices will be reduced with effect from midnight Wednesday (10).

The government has decided to reduce the price of fuel giving consumers the benefit of lower fuel prices in the world market.

Accordingly, prices of a liter of fuel will be revised as follows from midnight today.

92 Octane Petrol - reduced by Rs.2 from Rs. 138 to Rs.136
95 Octane Petrol - reduced by Rs.5 from Rs. 164 to Rs. 159
Super Diesel - reduced by Rs.5 from Rs. 136 to Rs. 131
Auto Diesel - Rs. 104 no change

The Minister of Finance, Mangala Samaraweera, at the time of June's revision of fuel prices had stated that If international oil prices continue to decline, the benefit would be passed on to the consumers.

Since the price of a barrel of crude oil which was US$74 at the time of the June price revision, is now declined to US$ 65 the pricing committee has decided to reduce the price of fuel as promised by the Minister of Finance Mangala Samaraweera.
