* UPFA parliamentarian Ranjith de Soysa passes away

Dec 04, Colombo: United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Ratnapura District Parliamentarian Ranjith De Soysa has passed away. He was 57 years old at the time of his death.

The parliamentarian has passed away early this morning while receiving treatment at a hospital in Singapore.

The MP who fell ill suddenly was taken to a Singapore Hospital last Thursday (November 28).

Ranjith Soysa was elected to the Parliament from the United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) but represented the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) at the time of his death. He played a major role in the victory of President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa in the last presidential election.

The remains of MP Ranjith de Zoysa are to be brought to the island tonight.
