* President instructs officials to provide relief to those affected by inclement weather

Dec 02, Colombo: President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has instructed the public officials to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety and welfare of the people affected by the floods, landslides and other disasters in many districts of the country due to the inclement weather.

The President has directed the officials to work in coordination with the Ministry of Defense and the Disaster Management center In order to cope with the risk of landslides, earth slips and rock falls etc. due to the prevailing heavy rains.

Accordingly, instructions through circulars, have been issued to take immediate measures to mitigate disasters, to create the environment that will enable responding without delay and the welfare of the affected people.

The coordination and the review of these activities will be conducted under the leadership of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
