* Prime Minister promises to bring a new political transformation

Aug 25, Colombo: Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said a strong and powerful political alliance based on policies that can build the country will be established and a new political transformation will be brought about in the country.

Addressing a gathering following the inauguration of the Ankumbura road development and the opening of a new bus stand, the Prime Minister said that the launch of the alliance's policies and the nomination of a candidate would be made in parallel.

All political parties that join the Democratic National Front (DNF) will join hands with the alliance while protecting their own identity, the Premier added.

Speaking on the occasion, Lakshman Kiriella, Minister of Public Enterprise, Kandyan Heritage and Kandy Development and Leader of the House said the alliance led by the United National Party (UNP) will definitely win the upcoming presidential election.

He said that all necessary steps have been taken to form the alliance and the alliance would be formed within the next two weeks.

Megapolis and Western Development Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka said that the United National Party should nominate a candidate who could definitely win the Presidential election and whoever it is, the alliance will support him at the elections.

Prime Minister Wickremesinghe declared open the new Ankumbura Bus Stand which was constructed at a cost of Rs 30.3 million under the supervision of the Urban Development Authority (UDA) on the provisions of the Sukitha Purawara Development Project implemented by the Ministry Megapolis and Western Development.
