* CID submits report on six high profile cases to AG

Aug 22, Colombo: The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has submitted the investigation report to the Attorney General's Department on six high-profile crimes committed during the previous regime.

The Attorney General on the 15th August informed the Acting Inspector General of Police Chandana Wickremeratne to hand over the files on five investigations to the Attorney General's Department promptly.

The Acting IGP called on the CID to submit the report on six high-profile cases in response to the Attorney General's request before the 23rd of this month.

These include investigations into the assassination of Sunday Leader Chief Editor Lasantha Wickrematunge, the assassination of national rugby player Wasim Thajudeen, the abduction and assault of journalist Keith Noyahr, the killing of 17 aid workers in Muttur, the abduction and disappearance of 11 youths and the disappearance of journalist Prageeth Ekneligoda.
