Sat, Aug 17, 2019, 11:22 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Aug 17, Colombo: Eight underworld members suspected of involvement in the murder of two men in the Madampitiya area on Tuesday afternoon have been arrested, the police said.

The police suspect that an underworld gang including Kudu Roshan's wife Niroshani, who is currently in remand prison, is behind the murders.

The police have found the three-wheeler suspected to have been used by the killers and belongs to Kudu Roshan's wife. The police had also discovered two swords during a search of her residence in Mattakkuliya.

According to information received, police say the killing was the result of a clash between Kudu Roshan's gang and another gang.

Four men armed with machetes and swords and arrived in a three-wheeler have hacked to death two individuals, who had arrived for a funeral, near the Madampitiya cemetery at around 4.00 p.m. Tuesday and fled.

One of the deceased was identified as an underworld figure named 'Anamalu Ranga'.

The police and the STF arrested the suspects yesterday morning and raided the house of Kudu Roshan's wife. The three suspects were found hiding in the house. The three-wheeler had been found abandoned near the Madampitiya cemetery.

The suspects were identified as Sudes Asanka, 18, Mohamed Ramlan, 19, who are both residents of Mattakkuliya, and Kolitha de Silva, 34, a resident of Kelaniya.

In addition, STF officers were able to apprehend five other suspects yesterday evening (16) while fleeing in a three-wheeler in the Hunupitiya area in Wattala.
