* Unoccupied Indian fishing boat beached in Dehiwela

Aug 16, Colombo: A fishing boat belonging to Indian fishermen has been beached on the coast near the Muhandiram Lane, Dehiwala, last night.

Dehiwala Police and Coast Guard officers arrived at the beach to inspect the 28-foot-long vessel. The officers found fishing equipment and several diesel and oil containers. However, there was no engine in the boat.

There were no one onboard the vessel and investigations are being conducted to inquire whether the occupants met with an accident in the sea.

The Coast Guard and the Dehiwala Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
