Aug 14, Colombo: The Central Committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has not taken any decision to support the Presidential candidate of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, says General Secretary of the SLFP parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayasekara.

Mr. Jayasekara said the SLFP Central Committee has not had any discussion on the matter and the statements made by various persons are not the official opinion of the party.

If the Sri Lanka Freedom Party decides to support the SLPP candidate, it will be discussed at the Central Committee and a decision will be taken with the concurrence of all, Jayasekara said adding that as the Secretary-General, he says with responsibility that so far such a decision has not been taken.

The general secretary added that the statements made by various individuals are not the official opinion of the party.
