Aug 12, Colombo: A Pradeshiya Sabha member who was arrested for being in possession of heroin in Anamaduwa today has been remanded after he was in produced in court today.

Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) officers during a search operation arrested the PS member near the Thonigala rock bend in Anamaduwa while he was traveling in a three-wheeler along the Puttalam - Anamaduwa road with 700 milligrams of heroin.

He was handed over to the Anamaduwa Police Station for further investigations.

The suspect was identified as 28-year-old Damayantha Ekanayake, a resident of Murukkuwatawan, Karuwalagasweva in Puttalam.

The suspect was produced before the Anamaduwa Magistrate's Court today and the Anamaduwa Magistrate remanded the Karuwalagasweva Pradeshiya Sabha member until Aug 22.
