* Elect a president who fulfill election promises, Duminda Dissanayake requests
Mon, Aug 12, 2019, 10:41 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Aug 12, Colombo: Former SLFP national organizer parliamentarian Duminda Dissanayake says that a person who does what he promises to do during their tenure should be the next president of the country, not a person who gives a list of promises only at the election time and does nothing.

Dissanayake while participating in a function in Thalawa, Anuradhapura yesterday said people should elect a president who is suitable for the country.

"There is a Presidential Election coming before the 8th of December. The people have a chance to elect a President who is suitable for the country. I appeal to all the people when the President is elected this time, select a leader who has a program, and will do whatever is best for the future of our children and who can go beyond the party for the country," he said.

"There must be a program, we need a leader who will implement that program and do what he said during his tenure. What is the point of electing someone who only makes promises at the election time and do nothing afterwards. People must decide wisely."

The former SLFP General Secretary asked the people not to vote for the wrong person even if he is from their party. "If you vote for the wrong person, it is not good for the country."
