* Sri Lanka Navy arrests two transporting 245 kg of Kerala Cannabis in Northern seas

May 25, Colombo: A team of Sri Lankan Navy personnel during a special search conducted in the Northern seas have arrested two individuals and seized 245 kilograms of Kerala cannabis (Kerala Ganja) on Saturday.

The haul of cannabis has been found during a search of a vessel sailing from Kerala towards Sri Lanka in the Northern Sea.

The Kerala Cannabis stock is estimated to worth Rs. 26.95 million.

Navy spokesman Lieutenant Commander Isuru Sooriyabandara said that two suspects were also arrested. They are to be handed over to the Kankasanthurai Police for further investigations.

The Spokesman said that 75 percent of the cannabis seized in the country's limits were from the operations in the northern seas.
