May 14, Colombo: The police have arrested Leader of the Mahason Balakaya organization Amith Weerasinghe in the Theldeniya area in Kandy this morning.

The Police have also arrested the operation director of the Anti-Corruption Force, Namal Kumara when he came to file a complaint with the Warakapola police.

Police Media Spokesman Superintendent of Police Ruwan Gunasekara said that the suspects were arrested in connection with the recent anti-Muslim clashes reported in several parts of the island.

The arrests were made by a Special Investigation Team headed by a Superintendent of Police, who was appointed by the Police Headquarters.
