* UNP May Day rally this year at the CMC grounds

Mar 22, Colombo: The United National Party (UNP) Working Committee has decided to hold its May Day rally at the Colombo Municipal Council grounds at Town Hall, UNP General Secretary Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said.

This decision was taken at yesterday's working committee meeting that had taken place under the auspices of party leader, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at the parliamentary complex.

Minister Kariyawasam said that the UNP will organize this year's May Day rally under the United National Front (UNF) banner by forming a coalition with other parties.

Meanwhile, the working committee has decided to launch the next Sirikotha Gamata membership drive centering Anuradhapura district in the third week of May.

The working committee has also decided to appoint a committee headed by Minister Kabir Hashim for the re-organization of the party at grassroots level.
