* Norochcholai power generation restored, no more power cuts, CEB assures
Wed, Mar 20, 2019, 01:00 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Mar 20, Colombo: The malfunctioned second generator of the Lakvijaya coal power plant in Norochcholai. has been repaired and added to the National Power Grid, the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) said.

Electricity supply in many parts of the country was obstructed during the last two days after the second generator of the three 300MW generators experienced a technical failure on Monday (18).

The CEB Spokesperson Sulakshana Jayawardhana said the problem was corrected and the generator was added to the national grid systematically last night. He assured that accordingly, the CEB will not enforce emergency power cuts.

The Spokesman urged the consumers to use electricity wisely as the hydropower generation is reduced due to the prevailing dry weather in catchment areas.
