* More police officers and forest ranger arrested in the abduction and killing of Rathgama businessmen

Mar 18, Colombo: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested seven police officers of the Southern Province Special Crime Investigation Unit and a forest ranger of Walasmulla forest reserve in connection with the abduction and murder of two businessmen from Rathgama area, Police Media Spokesman, SP Ruwan Gunasekara said.

Two sub inspectors, two police sergeants, two constables and a police driver were among the suspects arrested by the CID.

Meanwhile, more bone fragments suspected to be of the two businessmen abducted from Rathgama, Boosa in Galle and killed were discovered from the Hevandeniya forest reserve in Walasmulla.

The CID investigations have revealed that the two businessmen, Manjula Asela Kumara (33) and Rasin Chintaka (31), residents of Ratnaudagama, Boossa have been taken by a group of police officers of the Southern Province Special Crime Investigation Unit on 23rd January and killed.

The CID is pursuing investigations into the abduction and murder upon the directives of IGP Pujith Jayasundara.
