* Two Sri Lankan women nabbed at Pune airport in India for smuggling gold worth over Rs 3 million

Mar 15, Pune: Indian Customs officials on Thursday have arrested two Sri Lankan women for allegedly smuggling gold worth around Rs 30 lakh, at the Pune airport.

According to police, the women arrived from Singapore by a Jet Airways flight and walked through the Green channel without declaring anything to the Customs, ANI reported.

After noticing suspicious movement, Customs officials interrogated the women and found that they were carrying 24-carat gold in the form of chain, bangles and biscuits, weighing 914.25 gm.

The jewellery worth around Indian Rs 3, 031,937 has been seized on the suspicion of being smuggled.

Pune police are conducting further investigations.
