* First round of talks between SLFP and SLPP end successfully, second round on March 21

Mar 14, Colombo: Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) today held first official discussion on forming a new alliance.

The talks which began this morning at the Opposition Leader's office have reportedly been successful and the two parties have decided to hold the second round of discussions on March 21.

Former General Secretary of SLFP Prof. Rohana Lakshman Piyadasa, the current General Secretary MP Dayasiri Jayasekara, and MP Thilanga Sumathipala have participated in the discussions on behalf of SLFP while Professor G. L. Peiris and Dulles Alahapperuma have taken part on behalf of SLPP.
