June 20, Colombo: Sri Lanka President Maithripala Sirisena has instructed relevant officials to expedite investigations against those who are in custody under Terrorism Prevention Act for minor offences related to Easter Sunday attack and release those who are found innocent.

President Sirisena gave these instructions when the National Security Council convened at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday (19).

Security arrangements and the prevailing situation in the country were discussed at a length during the meeting and the process to ensure the national security was also reviewed.

President emphasized the importance of continuing the current security arrangements that are in place at places of worship.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya and several other Ministers, Secretary of Defense, Chief of Defense Staff, Commanders of tri-forces, Intelligence Officers, IGP were among those who were present at the Council meeting.
