* PM instructs not to rush to announce a UNP Presidential candidate
Tue, Jun 18, 2019, 12:10 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

June 18, Colombo: Prime Minster and United National Party (UNP) leader has advised the UNP parliamentary group not to be hasty to announce a name of the Presidential candidate from the party since the presidential election has not been announced yet.

The Prime Minister has given these instructions at a UNP Parliamentary Group meeting held at Temple Trees Monday night.

Following the discussion, State Minister Ajith Mannapperuma told the media that the Premier pointed out that this is not a time to find a presidential candidate.

"The advice given by the Prime Minister is that this is not a time to look for a presidential candidate. It is the time to fulfill the promises made on the 8th January 2015. Some setback happened because of the Easter bombing attack. Now work on completing the goals. After that we can talk about a presidential candidate," the Premier was quoted by the Minister.
