* Sri Lanka releases 18 Indian fishermen

June 15, Colombo: A Sri Lankan court has released 18 Indian fishermen who were in detention after they were arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy for illegally crossing International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL and poaching in Sri Lankan waters.

The Jaffna Fisheries Inspector's Office stated that the Point Pedro Magistrate's Court on the instructions of the Attorney General issued the order.

These 18 Indian fishermen have been apprehended while illegally fishing in the seas off Point Pedro.

The freed fishermen are scheduled to be handed over to India through Immigration and Emigration officials.
