Sat, Jun 15, 2019, 08:37 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

June 15, Colombo: Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has no conflict with the President or anyone and the Prime Minister exercising the constitutional powers vested him without violating the Constitution is no cause for a conflict or a dispute, the Prime Minister's Media Office said today.

The Prime Minister's Media Office issuing a communiqué said a media report published in Sunday Lankadeepa by Ajantha Kumara Agalakada stating that there is a dispute between President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and the ministers have intervened to resolve the issue, is baseless.

The PM's Office said it is the same reporter who has written a story that the reasons for the cancellation of Cabinet Meetings and clarified that the cabinet meeting was cancelled not due to a conflict with the Prime Minister but due to an issue with the Parliamentary Select Committee.

"It is not the Prime Minister who is responsible for the appointment or maintenance of the Parliamentary Select Committee. It is the parliament," the statement said.

"Therefore, it is questionable as to why the Prime Minister was involved in creating this news.

"The Prime Minister has no clash or dispute with anyone. Exercising the powers vested in him constitutionally without violating the constitution is not a cause for conflict or dispute," the PM's office said.
