June 14, Colombo: Police Headquarters has received 27 complaints against former minister Rishad Bathiudeen, Former Governor of the Western Province Azath Salley and Former Governor of the Eastern Province MLAM Hizbullah.
Police Media office said as of 4 pm Thursday (13) 27 complaints had been lodged against the three politicians since 27th May.
The Police Headquarters has set up a committee comprising a Senior Superintendent of Police and two Superintendents of Police to receive complaints against the three Muslim politicians.
Among the complaints the committee received, 12 complaints were against MP Rishad Bathiudeen, five against former Governor Azath Salley and two against MLAM Hizbullah.
Police Media Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said the complaints will be forwarded to the Criminal Investigations Department for deliberation.
The three politicians resigned after public protests demanded their removal from their posts over alleged links with Muslim terrorists.
Former Governor of the Eastern Province, MLAM Hizbullah was called before the special Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) probing the Easter Sunday Attacks yesterday. He has been summoned to obtain a statement regarding the private university in Batticaloa.
Meanwhile, MP SB Dissanayake has given a statement regarding a complaint filed against MP Bathiudeen at the police headquarters.
