* Sri Lanka's international airport Arrival and Departure lobbies open for visitors again
Mon, Jun 10, 2019, 09:43 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

June 10, Colombo: The arrival and departure lobbies of the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) have been re-opened for visitors of passengers.

Accordingly, two visitors could accompany a departing or arriving passenger, the International Airport at Katunayake announced.

Following the Easter Sunday suicide bomb attacks on April 21, a special security arrangement was implemented at the Katunayake Airport.

Accordingly, it was restricted for vehicles to enter the premises and the lobbies reserved for visitors at the departure and arrival terminals were closed barring entry for visitors accompanying passengers.

The security measures caused a considerable inconvenience to the arriving and departing passengers and the airport officials eased the restrictions on May 10 allowing entry for vehicles to the respective gates for drop off and pick up of passengers.

From today, a passenger could be accompanied by two visitors at the departure and arrival lobbies. However, visitors are advised to refrain from bringing bags or parcels into the lobbies due to the security arrangements in place, the BIA said.
