Sat, Jan 12, 2019, 09:32 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Jan 12, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Inspector General of Police Pujith Jayasundera says the Police have drawn its attention towards children who are ready to take over the future of the country.

Speaking at an event held to distribute books and school gear for children of police officers, the IGP said today's young generation lacks tolerance and makes hasty decisions.

"When looking at present incidents taking place in the society, it is clearly seen that the young generation is in a weak tolerance level. Due to the youth taking instant decisions, the parents, relatives and many related to their lives get hurt. This affects the pride of our country," IGP Jayasundera said. He added that the elders are responsible for this situation.

The IGP said the Sri Lanka Police clearly understand the role of the children who are ready to take over the future of the country.

School equipment kits are to be provided to 4,100 children of Police Officers entering the first grade this year in various parts of the country. At today's function held under the patronage of the Inspector General of Police, school equipment kits were symbolically distributed to 125 children.

The school equipment kit includes all the text books required for the first year and a voucher of Rs. 1150 to purchase other needed equipment and shoes.
