* China reiterates its support to development of Sri Lankan economy

Jan 10, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Minister of Finance and Mass Media welcomed the Chinese Ambassador Cheng Xueyuan and his delegation, who called on the Minister at the Treasury Thursday.

At the meeting, the Minister has apprised the Chinese Ambassador about the government's plan to re-engage with International Monetary Fund (IMF), and thanked the Chinese Government for their continued support extended to Sri Lanka.

Ambassador Cheng Xueyuan has reiterated Chinese assistance to the development of the Sri Lankan economy and pledged their support in Sri Lanka's efforts to re-engage the IMF in a sustainable manner.

Secretary to the Treasury Dr. R.H.S. Samaratunga, Senior Advisor to the Minister of Finance & Mass Media Mano Tittawella and other senior officials were also present at the discussion.
