Jan 08, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Minister of Finance and Mass Media Mangala Samaraweera has said that financial allocations have been made in the 2019 budget to provide sanitary facilities this year to every school in the country that lacks such facilities.

Addressing a function held in the Matara area on Monday, the Minister said that the conspiracy is over and now they have started their work.

He said that although many think that Sri Lanka is developed there are thousands of schools which lack proper sanitary facilities for children. As such the Minister said that they have allocated money to provide sanitary facilities to all these schools.

The Minister also said there are thousands of thatched houses or houses with broken roofs in the country. The Minister assured that there would be no thatched houses in the country by the year 2020.
