Jan 03, Colombo: Parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayasekara has been appointed as the new General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP).

The SLFP Central Committee at its meeting held at the party headquarters in Colombo this evening with party leader, President Maithripala Sirisena presiding, has unanimously decided to temporarily appoint Dayasiri Jayasekara to the post on a motion presented by the President.

Jayasekara, who serves as a vice president of the SLFP, will take over from Professor Rohana Lakshman Piyadasa, who functioned as the acting General Secretary of SLFP since 3 June 2018.
