* Navy sailor arrested over abduction and disappearance of 11 youths

Feb 22, Colombo: Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has arrested another Navy personnel over the alleged abduction and killing of three youths out of the eleven youths abducted during the period of 2008 and 2009.

Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said the 33-year-old suspect is a sailor attached to the Kankesanthurai Naval Base.

He was arrested on charges of killing three out of 11 youths abducted and presumably murdered.

The Criminal Investigation Department has earlier arrested nine suspects including former Naval Media Spokesperson Commodore DKP Dassanayake and Lieutenant Commander Chandana Prasad Hettiarachchi, for aiding and abetting the abduction and disappearance of 11 youth in 2008 and 2009.
