* Etihad Airbus A380 makes emergency landing at Colombo airport as passenger suffers heart-attack

Feb 08, Colombo: An Etihad Airways A380 plane with more than 460 people on board has made an emergency landing early this morning in Sri Lanka's international airport in Katunayake after declaring a medical emergency onboard.

The Etihad Airways Flight EY 454 en route to Sydney from Abu Dhabi has reportedly made a landing in Colombo airport after a passenger experienced a heart attack.

The fight with 443 passengers and 21 crew safely landed at around 6:10 am local time.

The sick passenger, a 29-year-old Romanian national was rushed to the Katunayake Airport Medical Center and then to a private hospital in Negombo for further medical treatment.

Meanwhile, it is reported that the passengers were temporarily put up at hotels as a technical issue on the flight was also detected.
