* Brothers of Singer Amal and Actor Ryan arrested in connection with Dubai arrests
Thu, Feb 7, 2019, 10:13 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Feb 07, Colombo: Sri Lanka police have arrested the brothers of Singer Amal Perera and actor Ryan Van Rooyen, who were arrested along with Makandure Madush in Dubai, following searches of their houses today in connection with the Dubai arrests.

The Special Task Force (STF) officers searched Amal Perera's house at Maharagama and actor Ryan Van Rooyen's house at Dehiwala following their arrests in Dubai.

The STF said two cocaine pouches were found at Amal Perera's house and his brother was arrested on suspicion.

During the search of actor van Rooyen's house, the STF officers have found a small digital scale and black colored bag with a false bottom.

The STF suspects that the scale and the bag might have been used in drug smuggling. The actor’s brother has been arrested for questioning.

The STF and the Police Narcotics Bureau jointly conducted the raids.

However, vocalist Amal Perera's brother Roshan Perera has said that he was not arrested.

Meanwhile, underworld leader Makadure Madush and others, who were arrested in a Dubai hotel, have been brought to the Al Raffa police in Dubai and investigations have been commenced.

Dubai authorities have tested the blood samples from the suspects to determine if they have used drugs. However, the reports have not been received yet, according to sources.

If blood tests reveal the presence of drugs, the suspects will be prosecuted according to that country's law, a police spokesman said.

The Sri Lankan Embassy in Abu Dhabi is monitoring the progress of the investigations.

The Dubai authorities on February 5th arrested 20 suspects including underworld Leader Madhush Lakshitha alias 'Makandure Madush', singer Amal Perera, Actor Ryan Van Rrooyen and several other organized criminals at a party held at a hotel in Dubai.
