* Sri Lanka prepares to celebrate 71st National Day tomorrow

Feb 03, Colombo: This year Sri Lanka's 71st national Day will be celebrated on Monday, February 4th at the Galle Face Green in Colombo under the under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.

The main celebrations at Galle Face will start at 8 a.m. and finish at 12 p.m. Special traffic plan is in effect around Galle Face until noon.

At the Galle Face, the main ceremony involves a march-past by 5,848 members of the three armed forces. Among them are 3,872 members of the Sri Lanka Army, 932 from the Sri Lanka Air Force and 1,044 from the Navy. Also 922 Police and Special Task Force officers will take part in the march-past. About 500 from the Civil Defense Forces and about 100 cadets will also take part in the parade.

Kollupitiya Junction to Fort ceramic junction (Lotus Road) was closed today, as the final rehearsals took place. Minister Vajira Abeywardena, Defense Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and heads of security forces joined the rehearsal today.
