Thu, Apr 25, 2019, 12:00 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Apr 24, Colombo: Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena has asked the police chief and defense secretary to quit following the Easter Sunday suicide bomb attacks on churches and luxury hotels that killed 359 people, a Reuters report said quoting two sources close to the president.

The sources have declined to be named due to the sensitivity of the matter amid accusations within the government of intelligence failures ahead of the attacks.

The President Tuesday admitting there was a lapse in security, said he will make immediate changes in the high security positions as there was negligence in carrying out responsibilities.
