* Security strengthened at fishery harbors, all incoming and outgoing fishing vessels inspected

Apr 24, Colombo: The state Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development, Dilip Wedaarachchi has given strict advice to the Ceylon Fishery Harbors Corporation and all the responsible officials to take immediate action to ensure the safety of all fisheries harbors with the assistance of the security forces, considering the situation at hand.

State Minister Wedaarachchi has ordered to take all necessary measures to fulfill this task with responsibility to assist the security forces with the operations following the Easter Sunday attacks as well as to strengthen the country's security.

The Minister has given instructions to formulate and implement relevant security operation in coordination with the Sri Lanka Navy and the Coast Guard.

In order to prevent any person or group suspected of nefarious activities and wanted by the security forces from leaving the country, the security units at all fisheries harbors have been instructed to pay close attention to the people coming to the harbors and establish their identity.

Minister Wedaarachchi has also instructed to take steps to establish committees at all security units of the fishery harbors to monitor the incoming and outgoing vessels focusing close attention to items brought into the country using fishing vessels.

Similarly, the fisheries harbors have also been instructed to carry out a security program that will prevent unapproved persons outside fishery harbors from using fishing vessels.
