Apr 24, Colombo: The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the US intelligence and law enforcement agency, will be assisting Sri Lanka in the investigations into the Easter Day bomb attacks on churches and hotels that killed 359 people.
A spokesperson of the US Embassy in Colombo has confirmed to local media that the FBI will be providing technical assistance to the Sri Lankan police investigating the attacks.
State Minister of Defense Ruwan Wijewardene at a media conference this morning confirmed that the FBI is on the ground in the country and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is conducting the investigations with the FBI.
He also said several intelligence agencies from various other countries including Australia, UK, INTERPOL, and also the UAE are assisting the investigations.
U.S. President Donald Trump pledged United States support to Sri Lanka in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
The INTERPOL said Monday it is deploying a team to Sri Lanka to assist the national authorities investigating the bomb attacks.
