* Germany is supporting Sri Lanka as a partner in the crisis
Mon, Apr 22, 2019, 12:05 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Apr 21, Colombo: Germany's Minister for Foreign Affairs Heiko Maas strongly condemning the appalling attacks on Sri Lanka churches and hotels that left 238 people dead including 36 foreign nationals and over 470 injured.

"We are shocked by the appalling attacks on Sri Lanka and strongly condemn them. This vile act was apparently directed against people who dedicated themselves to prayer and contemplation in the churches on Easter Sunday, as well as against travelers. Nothing can justify the murder of innocent people," the Minister said in a statement.

"Our embassy in Sri Lanka is in contact with the local authorities and is working hard to clarify whether Germans are also affected. Germans staying in Sri Lanka should stay away from the places of attack and follow the instructions of the authorities."

"The Foreign Office has set up a crisis team. Concerned relatives can call 030-50000."

"Germany is supporting Sri Lanka as a partner in this difficult hour. Our thoughts are with the relatives of the victims and the many injured."
