* Japan expresses condolences following the terrorist attacks in Sri Lanka

Apr 21, Colombo: Following the terrorist attacks in Colombo, Negombo and Batticaloa, etc. of Sri Lanka on April 21, Taro Kono, Foreign Minister of Japan has sent a message of condolences to his Sri Lankan counterpart Minister Tilak Janaka Marapana.

“On April 21, explosions in Colombo, Negombo, Batticaloa, etc. resulted in a large number of deaths and many injuries including Japanese. I would like to offer my prayers for the victims of the attacks, as well as my heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and my sympathies to the wounded."

He said Japan expresses sincere solidarity with Sri Lankan people to overcome this difficult time.

"Such act of terrorism cannot be justified and Japan firmly condemns it. Japan is firmly committed to combatting terrorism in cooperation with Sri Lanka and the international community."
