* Nuwara Eliya new hospital will be opened soon - Health Minister

Apr 17, Colombo: Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Dr. Rajitha Senaratne says that the new general hospital in Nuwara Eliya will be opened soon.

The Minister was responding to a request made by the Chief Incumbent of the Bambarakele Sri Maha Viharaya Ven. Meepanawe Sugathananda Thero recently to the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe when he paid a visit to the temple on Monday (15).

The construction of the hospital began a decade ago during the previous government.

The new hospital in Nuwara Eliya was constructed with Euro 39.6 million concessionary financial assistance from The Netherlands government.

The Health Minister said the construction of the hospital is complete and currently new medical equipment are being installed with the assistance of Dutch experts.

He said the handover of the building from the contractor to the Health Ministry will be son in the next few days.
