* Mini truck crashes into Army post killing soldier on duty in Mullaitivu

Apr 16, Colombo: A speeding mini truck crashed into a military sentry point in Mullaitivu Tuesday killing one soldier on duty and injuring another ranker, the Army Media Unit said.

The mini truck plying in the general junction area of Wattappalai, Mullaitivu lost control due to excessive speed and crashed into the military sentry point at around 5.30 pm today.

Private H.P.S Pathirana of the 6 Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP) died on admission to the Mullaitivu Hospital, the Army said.

Staff Sergeant S.D.R Dissanayake of the 6 SLCMP who received injuries in the same incident is now receiving treatment at the hospital.

Mulliyaweli Police are conducting investigations.
