* Police arrest 329 drunk drivers in 24 hour operation

Apr 16, Colombo: Sri Lanka Police have arrested 329 people for driving under the influence of alcohol during a 24-hour operation from 6 am Monday to 6 am Tuesday (16).

Accordingly, legal action was instituted against 5519 drivers for various traffic offenses, the Police Media Spokesman's Office said.

During the raids carried out from April 11th to this morning, the police have arrested 1270 drunk drivers and initiated legal action against 34,980 people for various traffic violations.

Police operations to nab drunk drivers during the festive season will continue till the 20th.
